In the world that we reside in, the quest and pursuit for righteousness is almost nonexistent. There is pursuit of just about anything you can think of except the Torah. There is a constant chasing of materialism, “the bag”, relationships, careers, and pleasure – as it is written all that is in the world is the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life (according to 1 John 2:16). We seem to think that this fallen kingdom will exist in perpetuity and this our actions and lifestyle exude.
Matthew 7:13 – Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
Narrow – def “limited in extent, amount, or scope; restricted.”
The narrow way represents the way of living set apart. It is a blessed life. It represents the way of living out the Torah. Not just in mere deeds of the flesh and apparel and which people can see, but the fullest extent of living a life guided by the Ruach. Which many of us DO NOT possess. It is the road that is less traveled and the one that is hardest to find. Finding this way requires prayer, pursuit, and discipline.
The broad way represents the path to destruction. It is what we see now in the world and on social media. It’s easy to find and its ease of access would almost suggest normality, but it is just the opposite, it is the lifestyle that is most offensive to the Most High! It is the way that will lead to death! If you are doing what everyone else is doing, you are on the broad path.
FINDING THE NARROW WAY – HOW DO I GET THERE AND HOW DO I KNOW THAT I AM ON THE RIGHT PATH?
1. LIVING BY THE WORDS OF THE MOST HIGH: Duet 6:5 – Love YAH your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength. This requires discipline, rigor and there are no days off. It is a way of life and in embedding or principles of scripture that are unwavering and unapologetic.
a. Duet 8:3 – the Most High humbled Israel by allowing them to suffer and then providing manna to Know that HE is. That man should live by every WORD that proceeds from His mouth. Our life is to do the WILL of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Yaacob. The physiological needs are secondary as He has proven time and time again to those who are dedicated to HIM, that He will provide and sustain. One of the biggest impediments to Israelites embracing this narrow way is they think that they will lack. But this road requires complete dependence and complete obedience. “My commandments, which, if a man does, he shall live in them. “He that doeth the Will of God Abideth forever.”
2. REPENTANCE – a word that has been sorely mishandled and misrepresented. To most, it means to tell “God” you are sorry. Repentance means to recognize and return from your lawlessness and begin to make amendments. Through the power of the WORD/Spirit this can be done. Ezekiel 18:24 – “But if a righteous person turns from their righteousness and commits sin and does the same detestable things the wicked person does, will they live? None of the righteous things that a person has done will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness they are guilty of and because of the sins they have committed, they will die. The converse is true, if a wicked person turns to righteousness, the Most High is mighty to Save Israel and to Deliver!! HalleluYAH.
3. DISCIPLINE OF THE TORAH – TO BE A DISCIPLE – The last and evil days in which we live will require the elect to be disciples of the Torah. There is so much disparagement and discouragement in the house, but we must stay focused! The discipline of the Torah is walking it out. Remember the narrow way is the righteous way of living. The way that may not be popular, the lonely road, the one less traveled. For the righteous, it must be embraced, and we must ENDURE!!!! Psalms 119:97-105
a. Oh, how I love your law! It is my meditation all day. Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts. I hold back my feet from every evil way, in order to keep your word. I do not turn aside from your rules, for you have taught me. How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through your precepts I get understanding; therefore, I hate every false way. Your words are a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
4. ABANDONING THE WORLD /THOSE NOT IN PURSUIT OF THE SAME GOALS – Do you not know that friendship with the world puts you at odds with the Most High? James 4:4-8. I Peter 1:15-16 and Leviticus 21:8 – “Be HOLY or Set Apart – for I AM HOLY” This is no way means that you can’t be in communication with those you love and desire to see in the faith, but it means to never come into alliance with them in unrighteous ways or acts. Which often will lead to a severing of those relationships. One will influence the other. Be ye doers or disciples of the WORD. Show them and endure! Your best witness.
5. LIVING SET APART IN MIND AND FLESH – Jeremiah 10:2- Thus saith the Most High – (this is NOT an opinion” LEARN NOT the way of the heathen and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathens are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are VAIN. Christmas, Thanksgiving, All Hallows Eve, days of birth – all are rooted in paganism.
6. PRAYER, FASTING AND FELLOWSHIP – Continue on in prayer – Ephesians 6:18 – fellowship and fast are all keys to endurance.
May YAH bless the hearers and doers of His Holy Word.
